PUT simply......The US Treasury is printing dollars and buying US Treasury bonds from the Japanese. So the Japanese are in effect dumping US Treasuries but the US is managing the dump by printing dollars and absorbing the bonds. It’s clever - it’s also a little bit desperate >> It’s a version of Open Market Operations, done daily if bond auctions fall short, using FIMA facility that was created in 2022 (back then no treasuries were sold for those reasons)...
